High life, 1959
This superb action photograph and caption was featured in the Manchester Evening News and shows St Gregory’s third-year pupil Tom Clarke competing in the high jump in the Lancashire Schools’ Sports at Belle Vue. A print was put on display in the MEN’s front office window on Cross Street, Manchester, and Tom’s father was successful in his request for it when the display was being changed. Tom was a natural athlete and excelled at several sports.
