Overseas trips, May 1961
The Whitsuntide holidays saw two parties of pupils and staff enjoying trips abroad: 42 senior boys visited Amsterdam, in Holland, and 63 junior boys travelled to Linz-am-Rhine, in Germany. Among the staff on the Rhineland trip were Mr J. Deegan, Mr F. Andrew, Mr B. Caulfield, Mr F. Evans, Mr T. Duddy and Mr Henderson (laboratory technician). The itinerary for the Amsterdam trip is shown below and has been retyped for clarity and ease of reading.
The cost of the trip was about £12. This sum, together with a sum for spending, would have been paid to the organising teacher in instalments in the months leading up to the trip.

Peter Howard, who donated the photograph, recalled many years later that he had “no idea who the very attractive barmaid/waitress was or who took the photo but she had copies sent to us, presumably on our return to Blighty”.
