Demolition: second and final phase, 1992
The remainder of the building survived for a number of years before being demolished in the second stage, in 1992. The photographs included here of its demolition were taken in January of that year by Peter Ryan, a former pupil and keen photographer.

This shows the old east wing of the school in the process of being demolished. The picture was taken from Ardwick Green North and provides evidence of the previous demolition of the old frontage that faced the park.

Former pupil Terry Barnett recalls the following experience from this time:
“I drove past the school when it was being demolished [in 1992]. The workers were on meal break and I asked them if it was alright if I had a walk around. No problem. At my own risk.
Walked along the main ground-floor corridor past the science labs, up the spiral staircase with the brass buttons on the banister rail to stop you sliding down. It was very strange, like you could hear hundreds of boys shouting and running around. Of course, the place was empty, having been used for a number of years as start-up workshops and the like.
I took a brick off the pile of rubble and took it home. I put it into a wall I was building on an extension to my house. Great memories.”
