Year groups
Lists of pupils in Forms 5 and Upper VI are given below for various years. They have been compiled from Speech Day programmes and are not therefore entirely accurate. The lists fail to include pupils whose names did not appear on the programmes for one of the following reasons: a) left in the course of the year b) were not entered for examinations c) were entered for examinations but obtained no passes d) clerical or administrative omissions and errors. Spellings and initials are as per programme.
University places, 1963
Although the school’s sixth form was in its early days, two outstanding achievements were made in 1963 with places being gained by Peter Till at Cambridge University (Fitzwilliam House), and Walter Wood at Yale University in the United States. The following year saw Michael Anthony, whose surname had changed from ‘Angelopolus’, also gain a place at Cambridge. An interesting sequel to this story is the fact that when both Wood and Angelopolus entered the school they were not placed in the top stream. In fact, Wood was placed in Lower 1.
